I’ve been taking Propecia for about 2 years now. I have noticed a slight increase in hair loss. I am concerned that my hair loss could be caused by a hormonal change. It has taken me more than a year to notice this. I am not aware of any side effects that may be experienced. I am very concerned about the effect this could have on my hair and hair growth. Minoxidil is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), premature ejaculation (PE), and male pattern baldness (MPB). It is available as a topical solution applied directly to the scalp.
It can also be used in combination with other prescription medications to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), enlarged prostate, and male pattern hair loss.
Minoxidil works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis, allowing blood to flow into the penis during sexual stimulation. This helps you achieve and maintain an erection.
Minoxidil is a vasodilator (a type of vasodilator) which increases blood flow to the penis, resulting in an erection.
It is important to note that minoxidil may not be suitable for everyone. Men with certain health conditions or those taking certain medications should consult a healthcare professional before use.
There are certain situations when minoxidil should not be used. You should not use minoxidil if you are allergic to minoxidil or any of its ingredients.
Do not use minoxidil if you have a history of heart problems, high or low blood pressure, or if you are taking medications for high blood pressure or prostate cancer.
Consult a healthcare professional before using minoxidil if you are using finasteride. The medication is not a good candidate for minoxidil in these cases.
Minoxidil should not be used to treat any other medical conditions.
Do not take minoxidil if you are currently using finasteride or if you are currently using the medication for an enlarged prostate or if you are using the medication for male pattern hair loss.
While the side effects are rare, they can occur.
